About Us

Empowering Voters.
Defending Democracy.

Legacy & Successes

The League of Women Voters, founded by leaders of the women’s suffrage movement in 1920, has a long history of grassroots activism and shaping public policy.

We’ve launched campaigns supporting the United Nations, the ERA, presidential debates, voter registration, election reform, elimination of gerrymandering, and many more. We empower women and men to be educated voters and advocates.

400+ Members

Our chapter continues to grow in strength and numbers, averaging 400+ members. Last year, our volunteers donated 3,000 hours of their time to empower voters and defend democracy in St. Petersburg.

100+ Years

In 2020, we celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the League of Women Voters. Just as we fought for women’s suffrage a century ago, we continue to fight for enfranchisement for all.

200K Grant Funding

Over the past three years, our chapter’s acquired almost $200,000 in grant funding to research civic engagement in St. Petersburg, advance social justice efforts in our community, and support our voter services in neighborhoods with low voter turnout.
