LWVSPA is once again partnering with Solar United Neighbors to bring a solar co-op to our community.
Learn about solar energy, and how this nonprofit co-op model simplifies the process of going solar on your home or small business.
Solar United Neighbors makes it easy to go solar and save. At this free meetup, you will learn about solar technology, and how going solar can save you money. Solar co-ops have helped thousands of people save money by leveraging the power of group purchasing, and independent experts can teach you everything you need to know to decide whether solar is right for you. Learn more at Solar United Neighbors' website.
*If you require special accommodation to attend and participate in this event, please message us directly as soon as possible at email@example.com. We cannot guarantee that we'll be able to accommodate, but we'll do our best!
Coffee in Common is a monthly series co-hosted by the The St. Petersburg Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area.
These free and public events are for thoughtful, open-minded white women and women of color concerning the prescient issues of the day, to include: white privilege, racism, and white supremacy. This series seeks to explore the intersection of politics and race by educating audiences about history, lived experience, and facilitating important, and often uncomfortable, discussion about race.
This month we encourage participants to order your coffee online from our local roasters, Hogg Batch, in time for a special delivery. Following the presentation, facilitators will guide discussion on the topic, its relevance in today's world, and honest conversations about the deeply-rooted effects of institutional and systemic racism in our community.
It is through open-minded, free, and safe discussions among women and the community that we can forge forward together in the struggle with knowledge and power.

JOIN US for the LWVSPA Food Politics (FKA Plant Power) Action Team.
This year, our primary goals are to educate people about the impact of their food choices on the corrupting influence of money in politics, personal health and environmental impacts; to find like-minded people and organizations, to empower individuals to take personal action, and perhaps most importantly, to have fun and eat good food. In this meeting we will develop our action plan, talk about our budget and get started!
Please RSVP to Julie Kessel at Julie.Kessel@Cigna.com so we can make sure we have enough space and healthy snacks!
You may not know this, but this is a BIG DEMOCRACY issue! Food and politics are good ole’ buddies.
Think about this… The healthcare and pharma lobbies want you to think that drugs and devices are the answer to your medical woes The energy lobby wants you to think that they are for renewable sources of energy The Agribusiness lobby wants you to think they are for sustainable farming and humane animal consumption . And they pay a LOT of special interest money to keep you thinking you have limited personal power to take control of your health, carbon footprint, and environment.
We hope you will join us for this Indivisible Florida 13 Facebook Live presentation and question and answer event.
