SUMMARY:US Congressional District 16 Virtual Candidate Forum
DESCRIPTION:Recent redistricting has significantly reshaped Congressional District 16\, adding southern Pinellas County\, all of Manatee\, DeSoto and Hardee Counties\, and part of Sarasota County. The League has been working diligently to reach voters in these newly added areas to ensure that all voters have access to reliable\, nonpartisan information. \n\n\n\nThe candidate forum will provide voters with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates about the issues that matter most to US Congressional District 16 voters ahead of the upcoming election\, scheduled for November 3\, 2026.  \n\n\n\nTrevor Pettiford\, Veteran Journalist and member of the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists\, will guide the discussion. Candidates will answer questions developed by the League of Women Voters\, along with questions submitted at least one week before the forum. If you have a question you’d like considered\, please fill out the form. \n\n\n\nAll candidate forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters follow a nonpartisan\, unbiased\, and impartial format\, in keeping with League principles. \n\n\n\nThe forum is free and open to the public.  The event will be recorded by the League. Other than registered Press\, no other recordings will be allowed. \n\n\n\n\n\n Register for Zoom

SUMMARY:Vigil for Immigrant Justice
DESCRIPTION:The Pinellas/Hillsborough Interfaith Coalition\, LWVSPA\, and our allies host a peaceful Freedom Vigil to stand in solidarity with immigrant families and demand an end to the detention and deportation of our nonviolent\, law-abiding immigrant community neighbors\, siblings\, and friends. These vigils shine a light on the erosion of due process and the rise of authoritarian overreach. We pray for family reunification and justice for all immigrants. Together\, we affirm that justice\, compassion\, and the rule of law must apply to everyone—regardless of immigration status. \n\n\n\nDetails: \n\n\n\nSundays 5-6 pm \n\n\n\nPinellas County Courthouse14250 49th Street N (corner of 144 Ave N & 49th St N)Clearwater\, FL 33762 \n\n\n\nRegister:https://www.mobilize.us/theworkerscircle/event/968244/
