We had the support of 11 community partners and participation by over 100 community members. Panelists included City Council Chair Lisa Wheeler-Bowman; Amanda Thalji-Raitano, PhD, licensed psychologist; pediatrician Dr. David Berman; and facilitator Ryan Mitchell. “Understand the Issues – then VOTE! – Gun Safety” Oct. 16 2018 event co-sponsored by LWVSPA and Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg. The event featured Emily Handsel & Kayla Dixon (We the Students Inc.), Jan Neuberger (Moms Demand Action Against Gun Violence), Rev. Carlos Senior (New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, St. Petersburg) and Sharon Winters (LWVSPA gun safety action team lead).
Working Effectively with Legislators, advocacy training, 7pm 15 January 2019presented by gun safety team lead, Sharon Winters, at Allendale Methodist Church (small chapel), 3803 Haines Rd. North. The training will also be given for Engage St. Pete on Feb. 11th.
