Our Annual Luncheon & Talk Back on Saturday afternoon, April 21st, featured keynote speaker Jemele Hill, the chief correspondent and senior columnist at ESPN’s The Undefeated, the premier platform for exploring the intersection of sports and culture. We enjoyed delicious food in the beautiful ballroom of the St. Pete Yacht Club and heard answers to audience questions following her talk.

This year we celebrated the work and voice of Jemele Hill in her role as journalist. We honored Ms. Hill because she has achieved significant success and exposure in a very competitive and male-dominated area and she has taken courageous action to express her views, with significant personal, professional, and social impact.
Ms. Hill’s comments elevated the national debate about the role of the media, freedom of expression, personal responsibility, and civility in political discourse. In this way, she is Making Democracy Work.
