Wilbur and Friends Dinner
July 9, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
On July 9th, 2020, the League of Women Voters of the St Pete Area Food Politics Action Team will host its 2nd digital dining event. And we have a very special guest. Wilbur and his friends from the Peacefield Farm Sanctuary will join us for a fun-filled virtual tour of the farm. Grab food from a plant-based restaurant, and enjoy the evening!
Wilbur made a guest appearance on our inaugural digital dining event on 6/11/20 and was a big hit. So, we invited the whole farm family!! They’ve got lots of farm friends, a big vegetable garden, solar energy to run the farm, and a lifestyle of respect and love for our democracy, personal health, the environment, and, of course, our furry and feathery friends.
As part of our event, we encourage everyone to move along in their journey to a plant-centered diet and so we’ve identified some terrific plant-based dining partners. Please choose an awesome dinner meal, call it in, pick it up, be safe, and head back home to share this digital dining adventure with us. Everyone's welcome, even if you are not dining with a meal from one of these!

JOIN US for the LWVSPA Food Politics (FKA Plant Power) Action Team.
This year, our primary goals are to educate people about the impact of their food choices on the corrupting influence of money in politics, personal health and environmental impacts; to find like-minded people and organizations, to empower individuals to take personal action, and perhaps most importantly, to have fun and eat good food. In this meeting we will develop our action plan, talk about our budget and get started!
Please RSVP to Julie Kessel at Julie.Kessel@Cigna.com so we can make sure we have enough space and healthy snacks!
You may not know this, but this is a BIG DEMOCRACY issue!
Food and politics are good ole’ buddies.
Think about this…
The healthcare and pharma lobbies want you to think that drugs and devices are the answer to your medical woes
The energy lobby wants you to think that they are for renewable sources of energy
The Agribusiness lobby wants you to think they are for sustainable farming and humane animal consumption
And they pay a LOT of special interest money to keep you thinking you have limited personal power to take control of your health, carbon footprint, and environment.
