    We're *shuffling* spaces this month so bring your biscuits and tangs! For September, the League is hosting its monthly Conversations and Cocktails at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club!

    Cocktails & Conversations is a casual, monthly event for Leaguesters & the League-curious to socialize, network, and generally enjoy each other's company. Each month we explore a new local bar, restaurant, or unique space.

    Please join us Wednesday evening at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club for a drink & a nosh in good company. This event is BYOB (alcoholic or not) and small apps will be provided. Shuffleboard courts and equipment will be available for games while conversing about important, salient issues in our community and country. This event is meant to be laid back, fun-filled, and fellowship-enhancing.

    Sunrise Over the Bay will focus on how we are working toward clean energy and clean water. The first panel will discuss solar energy co-ops, actions the City and County have taken in support of solar energy, and community solar opportunities. The second panel will share their insights about storm waste and wastewater planning, integrated sustainability action plan, and beach replenishment, as part of the conversation about climate change. Our goal is to educate and engage 300 people about why we need Clean Energy and Clean Water in St Pete today!

    The League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area will moderate a General Election Candidate Forum for Council Candidates for City Council Districts 2, 4, and 6, hosted by the City of St. Petersburg. At this forum, the League moderator will pose questions from those submitted in writing by audience members, providing the public an opportunity to hear what candidates have to say about critical issues facing the city.

    Doors open to public at 6:00 pm and the forum begins at 6:30 pm.

    The forum will be televised live on StPeteTV , the city’s government-access channel, which is available on Spectrum Channel 641, WOW! Channel 15, Frontier Channel 20, and on the city’s website, www.stpete.org. The forum will also be replayed on the channel and accessible through the city’s YouTube channel.

    Get Plugged In to the League's Work!
    A Special Orientation for New and Prospective Members

    As one of the most active advocacy and policy education groups in Pinellas County, the League's current issues include voter engagement, environmental sustainability, gun safety, campaign finance reform, immigration, education, health care access, international relations, and reproductive rights. Come learn about the League's strategies to influence change and how you can join in!

    This event is designed to orient folks who are curious about the League, as well as those who've been members for less than a year. Our hope is that everyone will find what interests them and get involved as expediently as possible.

    This meeting will be followed by a General Meeting for all members, starting at 6:30, to get updated League info and have an opportunity for two-way communication with League and Action Group leaders.
