SUMMARY:All-Member General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The October General Meeting offers an opportunity to jump into a statewide campaign sponsored by our State League (a.k.a. the League of Women Voters of Florida). Attendees will join in the effort to notify 100\,000 returning citizens (a preferred term used instead of ex-offenders or former felons) that they may have the right to vote. \n\n\n\nWe will form a work party to collectively write hand-addressed postcards with a note of encouragement to this target group\, letting them know there is pro bono legal assistance available to help determine if they have in fact completed their sentence and can register. Postcard\, name/address info\, and stamps will be on hand. We will have pens too\, but feel free to bring your favorite pen (ultrafine point Sharpies work great). \n\n\n\nSo far LWVSPA has mailed 3900 cards. We would like to get out another 1\,000 by early November – with your help at the General Meeting\, this is likely to happen. \n\n\n\nAll postcard writers must sign a privacy pledge agreeing not to share any of the names and addresses of intended postcard recipients.
