SUMMARY:Tour the Geothermal Energy System at the Pinellas County Emergency Management Complex
DESCRIPTION:Seeing this hardened\, 100% “all-inside” geothermal infrastructure in person is one of the best ways to understand the resilience benefits this innovative technology can offer our community. Geothermal energy also saves money\, conserves water and lowers utility costs for homes and businesses. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a special educational outing and guided tour of the Pinellas County Public Safety Complex to explore one of the region’s most resilient geothermal energy systems. \n\n\n\nThe League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area is partnering with the Florida Chapter of the Sierra Club and Egg Geo to host this follow-up educational event focused on geothermal infrastructure\, energy resilience\, and public safety preparedness. \n\n\n\nParticipants will tour the facility’s hardened\, 100% “all-inside” geothermal infrastructure and learn how geothermal systems can support community resilience during major storm events and power disruptions. \n\n\n\nThis outing offers a unique opportunity to see geothermal technology operating in a real-world public facility and to better understand how sustainable energy systems can strengthen critical infrastructure throughout Pinellas County and beyond. \n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Learn: \n\n\n\n\nHow geothermal heating and cooling systems work\n\n\n\nWhy “all-inside” geothermal infrastructure improves storm resilience\n\n\n\nEnergy efficiency and long-term operational benefits including water conservation\n\n\n\nApplications for public buildings and emergency operations facilities\n\n\n\nOpportunities for expanding geothermal use in St. Petersburg\n\n\n\n\nWe will also meet Jay Egg\, author\, expert speaker and St. Petersburg resident who designed and built this innovative system \n\n\n\nSpace may be limited. To reserve a spot for this educational energy outing and tour\, please RSVP to hold your place. We look forward to seeing you there. \n\n\n\n\n\n RSVP Here\n\n\n\n\nThis event is co-sponsored by the LWVSPA Community Centered Development Action Team and the Suncoast Sierra Club.
