If there is one thing that Elaine Jerrold wants you to know, it’s that you have a tool to make change happen – and that tool is your vote. Elaine is a committed supporter of LWVSPA and a passionate advocate for voter education and registration, especially in supporting young and new voters to help them make their voices heard and engage in the civic process.

Elaine first got involved with the League after the passage of Amendment 4 and the subsequent fight to put the law into effect. Elaine has supported both the League and the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition on this issue, including through a grant for LWVSPA to run a Voting Rights Restoration Clinic where LWVSPA was able to pay off fees and fines to restore voting privileges for individuals.

Elaine has voted in every election – local, state, and federal – since she has been eligible to vote. She has an innate love of helping others and feels a sense of responsibility to work towards positive change in her own community. It is no surprise, then, that she is passionate about the work the League and other community groups do to ensure that everyone in our community votes and stays civically engaged, too.

The League’s work to educate voters about the different candidates and issues in every election is something that Elaine is especially appreciative and supportive of. As the League moves forward, Elaine is hopeful that LWVSPA continues to educate voters and in particular engage young voters in the civic process from the very beginning. Elaine says, “I want to help young voters see from the beginning that democracy works.”

Thank you for your passion and support, Elaine!
