Voter Protection

Voter & Election Protection in Pinellas County

The League is dedicated to ensuring that all eligible voters – particularly those from traditionally underrepresented communities, including first-time voters, non-college youth, new citizens, the elderly, and low-income Americans – have the opportunity and the information needed to exercise their right to vote. This team does this by educating voters on how to protect their vote, organizing poll monitors, and advocating for voters.

How We Protect Elections In Pinellas County

Training Poll Monitors

We train volunteer non-partisan poll monitors to monitor polling places on Election Day. Poll monitors are stationed outside of polling places to assist voters who may encounter issues while trying to cast their ballots.

Data Collection

We also train the poll monitors to report the issues they encounter in the field so we can collect data to give us a larger picture view of problems and hurdles that voters may be facing in Pinellas County.

This work is part of the nonpartisan, nationwide Election Protection coalition.

Voting Rights

We advocate on behalf of voters to increase access to the voting process.

We also support the modernization of voting systems, automatic voter registration, transparent and accountable redistricting, and making it easier for all eligible citizens to become active participants in our electoral process.

We also work to ensure compliance with laws such as the Voting Rights Act and the National Voter Registration Act.
