Candidates for US Congressional District 16 to Appear at Virtual Forum

St. Petersburg, FL — Candidates for US Congressional District 16 will appear at a virtual candidate forum on Wednesday September 23, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.

The forum, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Manatee County and the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area, will take place via Zoom.  Registration is required: register here.

Recent redistricting has significantly reshaped Congressional District 16, adding southern Pinellas County, all of Manatee, DeSoto and Hardee Counties, and part of Sarasota County. The League has been working diligently to reach voters in these newly added areas to ensure that all voters have access to reliable, nonpartisan information.

The candidate forum will provide voters with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates about the issues that matter most to US Congressional District 16 voters ahead of the upcoming election, scheduled for November 3, 2026.

Trevor Pettiford, Veteran Journalist and member of the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists, will guide the discussion. Candidates will answer questions developed by the League of Women Voters, along with questions submitted at least one week before the forum. If you have a question you’d like considered, please fill out the form.

All candidate forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters follow a nonpartisan, unbiased, and impartial format, in keeping with League principles.

The forum is free and open to the public.  The event will be recorded by the League. Other than registered Press, no other recordings will be allowed.
