Bus Ride to Vigil at Everglades Detention Center (“Alligator Alcatraz”)

June 14 @ 11:30 am 9:00 pm

League of Women Voters St. Petersburg Area is taking a lead organizing role for the weekly vigil outside of the Everglades Detention Facility (cruelly nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz”) on Sunday, June 14 from 4:00-5:00pm. This is a peaceful gathering with a strict agreement to not engage with any counter-protesters.

Round-trip coach bus transport from Pinellas generously underwritten by The Workers Circle. If you are able to contribute, please donate to their bus fund here (suggested donation is $30):  https://secure.actblue.com/donate/twc-alligator-alcatraz-buses.

As seats are limited, and we want to have as many people as we can, we are requiring an RSVP.

EACH PERSON MUST RSVP FOR THEMSELVES TO SECURE THEIR SEAT. If you are under the age of 18, you must have a parent or guardian with you.

If you RSVP and suddenly not be able to make it, please email organizer@fl-interfaith.org so that we may give your seat to someone on the waitlist.

** While there have been notices indicating that the detention camp may be winding down operations in June, this has not yet been confirmed. Until the entire operation is fully shut down, Workers Circle, Florida Interfaith Coalition, tribal members, families of detained individuals, and partner organizations will continue holding vigils outside the camp. **
