Help Us Restore St. Pete’s Diversity in Democracy Mural!
September 29 @ 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
In late May/early June, and again, in September, the St. Pete “Diversity in Democracy” mural was vandalized with anti-voting messages.
Join the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area and Artists John Gascot and James Hartzell in restoring this downtown symbol of community and unity. Under their guidance, the public will have a hand in bringing this mural back to life!
The “Diversity in Democracy” mural was created by St. Pete artists John Gascot and James Hartzell and commissioned by the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area as a vibrant public art piece to encourage voting and celebrate our community’s diversity leading up to the 2020 election. This mural stands as a testament to the power of civic engagement. Despite this setback, artists Gascot and Hartzell remain undeterred. They are committed to repairing the mural and reinforcing its crucial message: that voting is more important now than ever.
Materials and bottled water (while supplies last) will be provided.
VOTER REGISTRATION WILL BE ON SITE DURING THIS EVENT.
