Safeguarding Affordability Through Community Land Trusts
March 24 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Hosted by the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area and Faith in Florida
Community Land Trusts (CLTs) are an innovative, proven tool for creating and preserving permanently affordable housing while strengthening neighborhoods. By separating land ownership from the buildings on it, CLTs ensure homes remain affordable for future generations, even as property values rise. CLTs help small business owners compete by lowering the cost of renting or buying a workspace. Across Florida, communities are using CLTs to help teachers, nurses, service workers, and young families remain in the communities they serve.
Join us for an engaging talk to learn how community land trusts work, how they are financed and governed, and how they can help communities create stable, inclusive neighborhoods, stop gentrification, and protect long-term public investment in affordable housing. Our guest speaker is Dayna Lazarus AICP, technical advisor to the Florida Housing Coalition.
