Join or Renew LWVSPA Membership

The League of Women Voters is made up of a diverse group of members. Residents from all over St. Petersburg – men and women – and all walks of life work together to move our organization forward. By becoming a League member, you can join a larger movement to encourage our community to participate in American democracy and become civically engaged.

As of February 3, 2025 League of Women Voters (LWV) members from across the nation pay annual dues to the National LWV office rather than their local League.

Membership dues are on a sliding scale.

Individual members: $75 per year is the recommended amount, or pay what you can ($20 minimum).

You can add a second household member ($150 total for both recommended, $40 for both minimum), but each member will need a unique email address.

Dues are split between the LWVAC (20%), LWVFL (47%) and LWVUS (33%) and paid annually by members, renewable on your Join Date anniversary each year.

We are asking LWVSPA members to consider:

Members can join at a “higher level” than $75 on the national website, but our local League will only receive a fraction of that.

For those willing and able to pay above $75, we ask you to take the option (on the next page of the national webform) to make an “Additional Donation” directly to LWVSPA — or, after joining/renewing on the national site, use our donate link below.

Your dues support state and national activities. Automatic membership in the League of Women Voters of Florida and the League of the U.S. is also included when you join LWVSPA.  For every $75 membership with the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area, $15 stays here locally. LWVSPA pays $24.75 to the national LWVUS and $35.25 to the state LWVFL.

Membership Information

When you join the League of Women Voters, we will help you learn more about how our organization works. We frequently have new member orientation meetings, social get-togethers with other league members, and have a dedicated New Member Handbook so you can get to know our history and operating procedures. You can also contact office@lwvspa.org to learn more.

New Member Orientation

New member orientation meetings are typically held quarterly. During these meetings, you can meet other new members, learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities, and familiarize yourself with League priorities. Feel free to ask questions during these meetings or share why you decided to join. To attend an upcoming new member orientation, check out our events page.

Citizens play a critical role in our nation’s democracy, and a decision to become a League Member is a decision to make democracy work. We serve as local leaders, using our talents and experience to create lasting change in our community. Your membership helps give the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area (LWVSPA) the clout needed to empower citizens and be a force for change. Your voice is welcomed and will be heard. Join us in creating a more perfect democracy.
