Join or Renew LWVSPA Membership
The League of Women Voters is made up of a diverse group of members. Residents from all over St. Petersburg – men and women – and all walks of life work together to move our organization forward. By becoming a League member, you can join a larger movement to encourage our community to participate in American democracy and become civically engaged.
Your dues support state and national activities. Automatic membership in the League of Women Voters of Florida and the League of the U.S. is also included when you join LWVSPA. For every $70 membership with the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area, $23 stays here locally. LWVSPA pays $32 to the national LWVUS and $15 to the state LWVFL.
Membership Types
Student Memberships – FREE
Full-time students are always free; we see the value in including and empowering the next generation of leaders and advocates as a part of our legacy.
Individual Memberships – $70
Individual membership is the most basic way to support the League. You can participate in all League events and will be welcomed into our civically-minded community. Membership fees cost $70 and are due annually.
Household Memberships – $100
Household memberships are ideal if you and your significant other would both like to support the League. A household membership covers two LWVSPA members. These $100 dues are also paid annually.
Silver Memberships – $150
As a local chapter of a national organization, the League pays a portion of our membership dues to the state and national chapters. To further support your local League, consider purchasing an advanced membership, like the annual $150 Silver level.
Gold Memberships – $250
The most generous way to support your local league is to join the Gold membership level. At $250 annually, your donation allows us to invest in League activities. These donors are essential to keep our lights on.
Pay What You Can Membership – $1-$47
No Leaguer should have to choose between their League and their finances.
That’s why our “pay-what-you-can” option allows new or renewing LWVSPA members to pay $1-$47 for a year’s dues. LWVSPA is committed to subsidizing member dues for those for whom our basic membership is too much of a stretch.
All we ask is that you retain your League membership.
Membership Information
When you join the League of Women Voters, we will help you learn more about how our organization works. We frequently have new member orientation meetings, social get-togethers with other league members, and have a dedicated New Member Handbook so you can get to know our history and operating procedures. New Member Orientation
New member orientation meetings are typically held quarterly. During these meetings, you can meet other new members, learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities, and familiarize yourself with League priorities. Citizens play a critical role in our nation’s democracy, and a decision to become a League Member is a decision to make democracy work. We serve as local leaders, using our talents and experience to create lasting change in our community.
