Reproductive Resilience: Realities in a Pre-Roe and Post-Roe World
July 10 @ 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm
Please join the St. Petersburg League of Women Voters’ Reproductive Rights Action Team for its third monthly virtual panel discussion, Reproductive Resilience: Realities in a Pre-Roe and Post-Roe World. If you cannot attend live, the event will be recorded and emailed out to all registered.
This month, we will be joined by Sue Lehrer, PhD, CSW, who will share a story of her family’s experience with abortion care pre-Roe. Sue has been in healthcare since the age of 8 when her military Dad was diagnosed with MS. Making lemonade out of lemons, Sue got her degrees and helped build out the continuum of care in the U.S. (respite, adult day care, hospice, assisted living, memory care and retirement communities). For a decade she has been a pro bono nonpartisan citizen lobbyist for AARP and is passionate about equal access to medical care, medications and other support services for all. We will also allow time for audience members to share their stories, with anonymity possible.
After Sue and members have shared their stories, Marla Neufeld will walk us through the legal barriers that existed (after Roe) and continue to exist (after Dobbs) in the world of family planning. Marla is a partner in Greenspoon Marder’s Surrogacy and Assisted Reproductive Technology practice group, which she founded. She represents parties working with a surrogate, egg, sperm or embryo donor. Marla experienced her own infertility journey for many years and ultimately worked with a gestational surrogate to build her family. She focuses on helping others start a family using the available third-party reproductive technologies and adoption laws. She is passionate about reproductive rights.
