What’s On The Ballot

Our local, nonpartisan voter guide for the August 2024 election will be live by the time mail ballots go out!

Here is what’s on the ballot for the August Primary:

  • Nonpartisan & Universal Primary Elections (ALL voters can vote in these races)
    • School Board
    • Supervisor of Elections
    • Judges: District Court of Appeal & 6th Circuit
    • St Petersburg City Council: Districts 3 & 7
  • Democratic Primaries (only voters registered as Democrats can vote in these races)
    • U.S Senate
    • U.S Congress
  • Republican Primaries (only voters registered as Republican can vote in these races)
    • U.S. Senate
    • U.S. Congress
    • Florida State Senate
    • County Commission

Florida is a closed primary state. That means that only voters registered with a party can vote in that party’s primaries. The deadline to update your party registration for the August election is July 22, 2024.

For local, state and national elections, voters can go to Vote411.org and enter their address to read candidates’ responses to our questions, see analysis of ballot issues, and build a personalized sample ballot. We ask candidates to answer questions about key community issues, and we present their responses unedited in their own words.

Candidate Forums

One of the League’s signature activities is our candidate forums. These forums give voters a chance to hear directly from the candidates themselves. No spin, no marketing, no slick advertising – just the candidates speaking directly to the voters.

Voter Resources

We get it: voting can be confusing. These resources will help make it easier to navigate the process and make sure your vote counts.

A note about Voting by Mail: All voters who want to continue voting by mail must submit a NEW vote-by-mail ballot request for the 2023-2024 election cycle (even if you have been voting by mail for years). As always, when voting by mail, remember to sign your ballot envelope carefully! And be sure to mail it 2-3 weeks before Election Day so that it arrives on time. If you prefer to drop your ballot off, you can do so at any one of the three Supervisor of Elections offices during opening hours and on Election Day 7:00 am to 7:00 pm:

  • 501 1st Ave N in St Petersburg
  • 315 Court St in Clearwater
  • 13001 Starkey Road in Largo
